WORK-FRIENDLY ONLINE RETREAT

ONLINE RETREAT [work-friendly]
In the age of AI, it becomes more apparent than ever that our attention is not something we automatically control. It becomes increasingly scattered as AI systems are designed to effectively pull it away, and we are therefore constantly being challenged. Peace of mind is starting to feel like a scarcity.
And yet, through centuries of inward experimentation in (mainly) Eastern cultures, we know much more about what meditation can do. We know the mind can be trained. We know that we can fundamentally change how we perceive our experience.
How? By observing rather than reacting. Not by controlling, not by fighting the mind’s default mode and patterns, but by letting go at the moment when the mind moves and becomes tense. Relaxation not as a side effect, but as an intentional act of letting go. This is a trainable skill that, now more than ever, is essential for our well-being.
Starting meditation is neither difficult nor easy. It requires discipline and the right environment. The recipe is simple, and the key is consistency. We can learn to regulate our restrictive patterns deeply, so that we become less pulled by them. Gradually more space will be felt around our experience, our attention stabilizes and feelings of deep joy and peace arise - a direct, experiential understanding unfolds naturally.
The word retreat literally means seclusion. That is exactly what this program offers: creating the right conditions to establish meditation and to integrate it into daily life, in a short and intensive format that is ideal for curious beginners.
The core elements of the structure consist out of:
SENSE RESTRAINT
Reducing activities that cause the mind to become restless, distracted and restricted. In this way the mind will have time to settle and become at ease.
Reflections & interviews
Daily reflections are being provided during the group session and individually. And it is expected that participants have a daily 15 minute call with one of our guides. Foremost for your own safety, and secondly, to be able to support your practice optimally.
Meditation Sessions
We are making a distinction between formal meditation [sitting & walking] and practice within daily activities. Expect to formally meditate 2+ hours on the first two days, and 6+ in the weekend. Don’t worry, your mind will be ready!
practicing silence
Unnecessary chatter should be avoided. This will provide the necessary space to be able to step back; now it is time to observe the 'inner chatter' of the mind and experience inner stillness.
Our teaching philosophy
-
As AI grows in intelligence and acts for us and beside us, our next human evolution might not be about doing more. It may shift from doing to being — reflecting on our own wanting.
Within our information-driven society, the development of AI together with the attention-capturing industry seems to thrive as never before. And in doing so, it may have surfaced something essential, something now more visible than ever: it points toward the very nature of our own mind.
When did you catch yourself reaching for your phone without a specific reason? Our minds rush to fill every gap. By nature, the mind is restless; it is ever-leaping forward, and distractions are experienced universally.
-
We believe the answer lies in taking a pause — an intentional pause right at the moment we notice the mind is moving and wandering.
That is exactly what mindfulness is: seeing the movements of our mind the moment they are happening. This restless energy can make the mind feel heavy and restrictive. But when we pause and see our attention drifting away, we can learn to simply let go of the distraction by relaxing the mind and body. In doing so, the mind shifts from restrictiveness into clarity and openness.
-
This simple yet profound skill — recognizing and letting go — can bring significant transformation when we approach it as training, as meditation. What happens to the mind when we do this consistently for half an hour? A few hours a day? Or even a few days in a row?
That is what we would like you to experience by offering a retreat-structure.
We strongly believe that when meditation is practiced intensely in a short period of time, it brings deep transformation, clarity, and experiential understanding — something you can use for a lifetime.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE
at OUR RETREATS:

There are no obligatory religious rituals, and the techniques that are offered are solely for the purpose to deepen meditative practice.

FRequently asked questions
-
Yes, if you're curious about meditation and willing to dedicate real time to it—especially over the weekend. This retreat works well for busy professionals, beginners wondering what meditation is actually about, and experienced practitioners looking for structured practice time with guidance and community.
-
The program may not be suited for you if:
You are looking for a casual drop-in experience, this isn't it. The weekend requires genuine commitment— two hours of practice on both Thursday and Friday and six hours on both Saturday and Sunday.
You find it too difficult to reduce social time and to reduce sensual engagement. Distractions- two core elements of an intensive retreat. Spending time with loved ones is not explicitly discouraged, but during retreat, the practice should be your first priority. Furthermore, it is highly beneficial to limit leisure activities [such as streaming films/series, listening to music, etc]. The focus should be on observing the mind, instead of sensual engagement. These activities can cause many distractions to arise, and therefore limiting your progress and depth of your meditation. If these training principles feels like too much right now, that's completely fine. We'd rather you join when the timing is right.
You feel that recent events or your current mental health could strongly affect your practice. In that case, it might be best to wait and you are always welcome to join us at another time! You can request a pre-retreat-call if there are any doubts Description text goes here

None at all. We provide guided meditations and clear instructions throughout. Meditation is a skill anyone can learn, and we'll walk you through everything step by step.
-
Our practice is inspired by Buddhist tradition, for example the methods carried out by Buddhist monk Bhante Vimalaramsi. While grounded in Buddhist tradition, the meditation is fully secular, and you don't need any background in Buddhism to participate.
-
No, it is not strictly a silent retreat. However, practicing silence is recommended and highly encouraged. Talking can easily energize the mind, and distractions arise quickly. In a retreat, you are intentionally taking a step back from the ongoing chatter of the mind, surrendering to that stillness, and observing these movements to gain deep insight into their nature. This means reducing social interactions.
Within a work context, if talking is necessary to function properly, then limit yourself to what is needed. Speaking with your loved ones is not discouraged, but let the practice remain your first priority.
-
Yes, you can. This retreat is specifically designed for people who have a regular job and do not have the flexibility to take leave, or who are not yet sure whether they want to commit fully. That’s why we offer the possibility to integrate the practice into your professional life on these two days, and then use the weekend as an intensive practice schedule.
-
We do not expect you to take leave on these days. However, if you feel motivated and are able to step away from work, we highly recommend it. The principle is simple: the more time you give yourself to step back and allow the mind to settle, the deeper the practice becomes, and the fruits of the practice become more clear. The choice is yours. You can simply follow the weekend daily schedule during Thursday and Friday — the only difference is that there will be no online group session in the morning. In the future, we may offer a full four-day retreat option.
-
Whatever is comfortable and sustainable for you. Meditation is about training the mind, not enduring physical discomfort. A chair works perfectly well. A cushion is fine too. We'll offer guidance on finding a posture that supports alertness and ease. As a general principle, find a posture that you can comfortably maintain for at least 30 minutes.
-
We recommend creating a dedicated space for yourself where you can practice without frequent interruptions. It doesn't need to be perfect—just a corner where you can sit undisturbed during meditation sessions. If you live with others, let them know you're on retreat and may be less available.
-
We use Microsoft Teams for all group sessions, talks, and personal interviews.
-
All live sessions are scheduled in Amsterdam time (CET/CEST).
-
For now, our schedule follows Amsterdam time. Depending on your location, the time difference may make it difficult to join the daily live group sessions. That said, all sessions will be available to watch online, and we’re happy to arrange daily interviews at times that work for you.
-
Group sessions are recorded and made available to participants. You can follow your own schedule around the talks.
-
Each day you can book an optional 15-minute one-on-one session with a guide. These interviews are for meditation support and practice questions. Please note: we are not therapists. If you're dealing with serious mental health challenges, we encourage you to seek appropriate professional support alongside or before joining.
-
You must be at least 18 years old to participate.
-
If you need to cancel, reach out to us. If you complete the retreat and feel the value wasn't there, you can request your money back—no questions asked.
